The paper focuses on a print by the Japanese ukiyo-emaster Tsukioka Yoshitoshi (1839-1892) entitled "Kuzunoha kitsune dôji ni wakaruru no zu" (The separation of the vixen Kuzunoha and her child). The author shows how the paper sliding door which hides a part of Kuzunoha and reveals another, embodies a reflection on the links between the real and the supernatural, and becomes the instrument of a revelation, that of the existence of a world located beyond visible appearances.
